Optidisc® Cutterbar
The new OPTIDISC cutter bar is the result of more than 40 years’ experience in the field of disc mowers.
High quality mowing, reliability, and minimum maintenance are the key factors taken into consideration during the development and production of this cutter bar.
High quality mowing
The centre distance is different between converging and diverging discs:
· Increased space at the cross-over area of converging discs: more room for cut forage, improved evacuation towards the rear, mowing undisturbed by cut forage
· Reduced space between diverging discs: larger overlap, improved mowing quality notably in short, light forage.
· Reliability
The discs are driven by robust, large-diameter gearwheels, both intermediate and under-disc. A large number of teeth are engaged simultaneously to ensure maximum power transmission as well as ensuring high resistance should one of the discs impact a foreign body.
In the event of a violent impact between a disc and a foreign body, the PROTECTADRIVE safety system comes into play: the disc shaft has a small shear groove just above the bearing which is intentionally more fragile so that the upper part of the disc shaft can detach itself from the cutter bar thus preventing damage to the entire bar. Replacement is extremely quick and reparation costs are low.
· Low maintenance
World exclusive: KUHN has introduced the first ever cutter bar which is lubed for life!
Due to a special manufacturing procedure and the use of top quality oil, it is no longer necessary to change the oil.
DiamondBlock® Rubber Roller
DiamondBlock® conditioning rollers stand out from the competition as the only rubber roller set designed exclusively for a disc mower. The horizontal, staggered diamond pattern crimps the crop every three to six inches as it flows off the disc at an angle for fast drydown. Adjustment of roll pressure and roll gap is simple and can be done quickly in the field.
Broadest Range of Windrow Widths
The wider the crop is spread, the more surface area there is exposed to the sun for faster drying. The FC TC Series mower conditioners allow wide spreading to over 90% of cut width for accelerated drydown. The nine vanes on the rear hood automatically pivot to keep cut crop from being thrown into uncut areas.
Tight Turns and Clean, Square Corners
The heavy-duty Gyrodine® gearbox is designed to withstand the most severe pull-through force from the hitch to the machine. The swivel design allows turns in excess of 90° while keeping the PTO driveline straight. Choose from two hitch attachments – drawbar or 2-point swivel.
Simple Drawbar Hitch
The drawbar hitch is easy to hook up and the heavy-duty build provides dependability and long life. The built-in swivel allows movement in three dimensions to easily adapt to uneven field conditions.
Quick Hitch Compatible 2-Point
The CAT 2/3N quick hitch compatible 2-point hitch provides a fully controlled connection and allows easy adjustment to maintain a level PTO. It also provides more ground clearance for previously mowed crop to pass through. Connecting arms pivot during hookup for easy alignment. All connecting quick hitches must meet standard ASABE specifications.
Exceptional Flotation
The torsion bar suspension system and articulated cutting head provide exceptional flotation to precisely follow ground contours. The torsional resistance can be easily fine-tuned to match the header ground pressure to different field conditions and operation speeds. A built-in slotted linkage eliminates the need to run the hydraulics in the float position. The articulated cutting head allows for more consistent crop flow and better shaped windrows or swaths.
